Anna I. Guerdjikova, PhD, LISW, CCRC, serves as a staff licensed social worker for Lindner Center of HOPE, with a primary focus in the treatment of adult patients with eating disorders and mood disorders. Within the Harold C. Schott Foundation Eating Disorders Program, Dr. Guerdjikova serves as a director of administrative services. She is an outpatient therapist, inpatient group facilitator, and an assessment/outcomes coordinator.
Dr. Guerdjikova has been extensively trained in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and holds a certification in enhanced CBT with eating disorders treatment focus (CBT-E). She has a strong clinical and research interest in binge eating disorder and in treating complex patients presenting with psychiatric and medical comorbidities.
As part of her graduate training, Dr. Guerdjikova provided psychiatric evaluation, treatment planning, and ongoing psychiatric care to patients with various psychiatric disorders, including to those with severe mental illness, anxiety disorders, and chemical dependencies, and to victims of abuse and neglect. Prior to joining the Research Institute at Lindner Center of HOPE, Dr. Guerdjikova was a post-doctoral fellow with the Psychopharmacology Research Program at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. She was a co-investigator, supervisor, and coordinator for numerous clinical trials examining subjects with mood and eating disorders. Her main research interests are in the area of eating, mood, and impulse control disorders.
Through Dr. Guerdjikova's teaching experience, she has served as a course coordinator and lecturer for medical and social work students as well as a public educator.
Dr. Guerdjikova has first- and co-authored several book chapters and more than 30 original research articles on the topics of binge eating disorder and obesity, pharmacotherapy of eating and mood disorders, and phenomenology of mental illness, published in various peer reviewed journals. She has served as an invited reviewer for a number of professional journals as well as an invited educator for National Alliance on Mental Illness and various professional and community groups in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Dr. Guerdjikova has more than 15 years of experience in clinical and research work. She is a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders and regularly presents at various professional conferences.
